The Chat Room

Looking for an alternative to the standard 12 Step programs, or feeling like you need a little more?!?! The Liberation Place offers The Chat Room 3 times a week in an online, virtual format, for free. The Chat Room is designed to be a space where people can drop in to discuss the problems they are experiencing with making changes with their addictive, compulsive, or obsessive behaviours that they are making attempts to change. There is no registration process required to enter The Chat Room as it is an open format meeting that revolves around the specific theories and evidence based philosophies of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. For more information on what each of these meetings is about take a look HERE. As with all meetings designed to support any type of behaviour change, there are a series of "group norms" that have to be respected, at all times. These norms are detailed in the video attached to the link HERE and it is important to watch this prior to attending any of the available groups to develop your understanding for the process required for participation. For more information check out any of the Chat Room meetings listed below at the specified times

 Transforming Interpersonal Relationships

When we decide to make changes in our lives, one of the first thigs we have to look at are the people, places and things we are involved with in our current way of living. This can help us to establish, and eventually solidfy, the direction we are heading in to actually Living the Life we Want to Live. Inside of this difficult, and at the same time rewarding journey, building healthy relationships based on the principles of your own values and beliefs, is an essential piece of the puzzle. From my perspective, any interpersonal connection you have is considered to be a relationship. Whether this is the connection you have with a coworker, a family member, an intimate partner, a close friend, or just the guy you say hello to on your way to work every day, each and every one of these interpersonal connections is a relationship from which we practice Self Respect. Building healthy relationships is a difficult thing to do, particularly if you are a person who has lived their life using addictive, compulsive, or obsessive coping mechanisms. Inside of this meeting space, each week, I am joined by my co-host Nadia H, and we discuss relationship building based on the principles of Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. As with all meetings designed to support any type of behaviour change, there are a series of "group norms" that have to be respected, at all times. These norms are detailed in the video attached to the link HERE and it is important to watch this prior to attending any of the available groups to develop your understanding for the process required for participation. For more information check out.
