Hard Work

Doing The Work

All of the work we do at The Liberation Place is based on the training we have received in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Schema Therapy. We are continually upgrading the training we recieve, and therfore the services we provide, in all areas of this work. The following is a brief outline on each of these approaches to "doing the work" with links to more detailed information, and resources that are available should you want to look at them in even further detail.

Theory 1

Schema Therapy (ST)

Schema Therapy is designed to address unmet needs and to help clients break these patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving, which are often tenacious, and to develop healthier alternatives to replace them. Schema-Focused Therapy has shown remarkable results in helping people to change patterns which they have lived with for a long time, even when other methods and efforts they have tried before have been unsuccessful.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a structured program of psychotherapy with a strong educational component designed to provide skills for managing intense emotions and negotiating social relationships. The “dialectic” in dialectical behavior therapy is an acknowledgment that real life is complex, and health is not a static thing but an ongoing process hammered out through a continuous Socratic dialogue with the self and others. It is continually aimed at balancing opposing forces and investigating the truth of powerful negative emotions.

 Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFST)

IFS is a transformative tool that conceives every human being as a system of protective and wounded inner parts lead by a core Self. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal.
